Rental and workshop businesses live by the season. A subscription does not replace it, but it sets a floor: income that arrives every month, whatever the weather.
Ideas that work
- Monthly or quarterly service: check-ups included and a discount on parts.
- Long-term rental: a bike for the whole school year or season, for a fixed fee.
- Members' club: priority bookings and a special price on one-off rentals.
Renewal rules from day one
- 1Automatic or manual renewalAutomatic gives continuity; manual gives control. Decide which is the norm.
- 2When the renewal is issuedA few days before the period ends, so payment arrives on time.
- 3What if the last period was not paidThe sensible rule is not to renew until it is paid.
- 4Whether it can be pausedPausing instead of cancelling keeps customers who just need a break.
